Kyrgyzstan’s Mufti Zamir Rakiev Relieved of His Post
In a recent development, the Mufti of Kyrgyzstan, Zamir Rakiev, has been relieved of his post as the head of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan (SDMK). This news was reported by the SDMK, stating that Rakiev had written a letter of resignation at his own request.
The SDMK also announced that Rakiev’s application for resignation was granted, and he has been relieved of his duties as mufti. However, he has been admitted as a member of the Council of Muslim Scholars of Kyrgyzstan.
Following Rakiev’s departure, Deputy Mufti Samidin Atabaev has been appointed as the acting Mufti of Kyrgyzstan.
Members of the Council of Muslim Scholars of Kyrgyzstan and the mufti’s working group expressed their gratitude to Zamir Rakiev for his consistent work in developing kaziyats and khatibiyats in the regions.
Earlier, Rakiev had announced his resignation from his position as the Mufti of Kyrgyzstan at the central mosque in Bishkek before the Friday Prayer. He also mentioned that a new mufti of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan would be elected within a month.
This change in leadership is expected to bring about a new era for the Muslim community in Kyrgyzstan, as it prepares to elect a new spiritual leader in the coming month.
