Land Mafia Members Arrested in Moskovsky District

Land mafia members detained in Kyrgyzstan for corruption scheme

In a recent development, members of the so-called “land mafia” have been detained in the Moskovsky district of the Chui region in Kyrgyzstan. The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported that the former head of Sadovsky ayil okmotu, D.M.T., along with the chairman of Min-Bulak aiyl kenesh, A.A.K., and a former employee of the prosecutor’s office, U.R.M., were involved in a corruption scheme for the sale of land plots in Sadovoye village.

It was discovered that they altered the queue log of citizens in need of land plots, forged minutes of land commission meetings, and instructed subordinates to commit illegal acts such as forging signatures of commission members. Additionally, cases of fictitious registration of land plots in the names of incapacitated citizens were uncovered, with threats of physical violence being used.

On January 31, the members of the land mafia were detained as part of a case initiated under the charges of “Corruption” and “Forgery of Documents” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. They have been placed in a temporary detention facility as investigations continue.

Authorities are working to identify all individuals involved in the corruption scheme and to compensate for the damage caused to the state. This serves as a strong reminder of the government’s commitment to upholding transparency and combatting corruption in the country.
