Language Dilemma: Turkish or Persian for Pezeshkiyan at AK Party Central Executive Board?

President Erdoğan Makes International Phone Call and Discusses Various Topics
During a recent meeting, President Erdoğan placed a congratulatory phone call to Iran’s newly elected President Massoud Pezeshkian. The conversation took an interesting turn when Pezeshkian, who is Turkmen, asked whether they should speak Turkish or Persian. Erdoğan humorously replied that the Azerbaijani Turkish might make their understanding a little difficult, leading the discussion to continue in Persian through an interpreter. In addition to this exchange, early election discussions were also touched upon, with Erdoğan stating that early elections are not on the agenda and will not be considered.
Furthermore, support for Chinese company BYD was also discussed during the Central Executive Committee meeting. Erdoğan expressed interest in attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the factory that is set to be established in Manisa by the Chinese automobile giant. Chinese President Xi Jinping extended an invitation for Erdoğan to visit China again, with the intention of showcasing their electric automobile factory. However, a clear timetable for this potential visit has yet to be determined.
The issue of street animals, particularly in light of a recent incident where a child was injured by stray dogs in Adana, was also addressed in the meeting. Erdoğan instructed for a bill to be passed by the General Assembly before the Parliament closes, which will regulate the euthanasia of aggressive and sick animals. The AK Party group is set to meet with the opposition to discuss the bill before submitting it to the Presidency of the Parliament this week and putting it on the committee agenda.
These recent developments highlight President Erdoğan’s international engagements and domestic policy priorities, underscoring the diverse range of issues that are being addressed by the government.
