Language Proficient Youth to Receive Over 1 Million UZS One-Time Payments

The government has recently passed a new presidential decree aimed at providing support to young people who possess international foreign language proficiency certificates. The decree, titled ‘On additional measures to enhance the efficiency of the system for teaching foreign languages to youth,’ outlines several new initiatives to incentivize and reward youth for their language abilities.

One of the key provisions of the decree is the reimbursement of examination expenses for young people who pass international standard examinations and achieve a certificate at C1 level or its equivalent in languages such as English, German, French, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. In addition to the reimbursement, a one-time financial reward of 3 BCAs (1 million 20 thousand UZS) will be provided to help with educational expenses.

Furthermore, starting from September 1, 2024, to January 1, 2027, the minimum score required to qualify for covering examination expenses for international standard examinations in German, French, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese will be reduced by one level for youth. This aims to encourage more young people to pursue language proficiency and certification.

In another significant development, private training centers will now be allowed to conduct vocational and foreign language classes in general secondary educational institutions outside of regular school hours. This will be done through direct contracts with the institutions, granting them complimentary use of the facilities for these educational programs.

The Ministry of Preschool and School Education will be responsible for approving the list of general secondary educational institutions where these programs can be conducted. Overall, these new measures are designed to support and incentivize young people in Uzbekistan to improve their foreign language skills and expand their educational opportunities.
