
“Large-Scale Crackdown: 79 Arrested in Afyonkarahisar for Drying Out”

Afyonkarahisar Police Department, in collaboration with the Provincial Police Department Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch, carried out a successful operation called “Drying Out” on May 5. The objective of the operation was to curb the trafficking and use of drugs and stimulants, and to fight effectively against street vendors.
As many as 93 suspects were detained during the operation, and this number increased to 103 in the following days. The police also carried out searches at the suspects’ addresses during which they seized drugs, seven precision scales, and seven unlicensed pistols and rifles.
The suspects were then taken under custody and subjected to necessary legal procedures. Four of the suspects were released after prosecution inquiries, while 79 suspects were arrested and 18 were released on conditions of judicial control.
The operation was a significant success in combating the drug menace, and the police department is expected to continue with such measures in the future.
