Last Minute 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Aegean Sea
A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Aegean Sea near Santorini Island on Sunday, according to measurements by AFAD. The earthquake, which occurred at 14:59, had a depth of 5.42 km. Just five minutes prior, AFAD recorded another earthquake of 4.2 magnitude at 14:54.
Rémy Bossu, Secretary General of the European-Akdeniz Seismology Center, warned that the recent seismic activity in the Aegean Sea could be a precursor to a larger earthquake. He mentioned that the ongoing tremors, with the largest in Santorini, have been very unusual and may indicate a bigger earthquake in the future.
