The Ministry of National Education has announced a new curriculum draft named “Turkey Century Education Model,” which adopts a skill-focused approach based on holistic education, with new approaches to allow students to learn in-depth through simplified content.
The new curriculum is designed to be flexible and adaptable to changing conditions and needs worldwide. The draft of the new curriculum named “Turkey Century Education Model” has been made available for public opinion on the website “https://gorusoneri.meb.gov.tr/.”
Starting from the upcoming academic year, the new curriculum will be gradually implemented in preschool, first grade of elementary school, fifth grade of middle school, and ninth grade of high school. The Turkey Century Education Model serves as the basis for the newly prepared educational programs.
The new curriculum features an original educational philosophy targeting the formation of wise generations who possess national consciousness, morality, virtue, and aim to do what is beneficial and beautiful for society and humanity.
In the context of the renewed programs, there are many aspects that differentiate from the existing ones. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of teaching Turkish language effectively and enhancing students’ language skills, making it a fundamental policy in the education system.
In addition to the core subjects like math, science, and social studies, the new curriculum includes updated elective courses developed by the Directorate General of Religious Education.
The curriculum also focuses on developing 13 different science skills, 17 social science skills, and promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills among students. The aim is to create a profile of students who are competent, ethical, and capable of contributing positively to society.
