Lavrov to Visit Turkey Tomorrow – Breaking News

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara tomorrow, according to diplomatic sources. The meeting will focus on a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues, including trade, energy, and tourism.
One of the main topics of discussion will be the ongoing war in Ukraine, with both ministers exchanging ideas on achieving a fair and permanent peace through diplomatic efforts. They will also evaluate recent contacts between the US and Russia and discuss the role Turkey can play in facilitating direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in March 2022.
In addition to Ukraine, the ministers are expected to address regional and international issues, particularly focusing on Syria and the Middle East. Turkey will underline its determination to rid Syria of terrorist elements and emphasize the importance of Syria’s territorial integrity and political unity.
Minister Fidan is also expected to address Israel’s actions that threaten Syria’s territorial integrity and call for increased humanitarian aid to Gaza. He will stress the need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and advocate for a two-state solution for peace in the Middle East.
Lavrov’s last visit to Turkey was in October 2024, and Minister Fidan met with him in Johannesburg on February 20th. The upcoming meeting in Ankara is seen as a crucial opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Turkey and Russia on key regional and international issues.
