Lawyer Akan Kürşat released on bail and returns to Northern Cyprus

Lawyer Akan Kürşat, who was brought to court in Southern Cyprus today and was released on bail, has returned to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

According to the President of the Turkish Cypriot Bar Association Hasan Esendağlı, Akan Kürşat entered the TRNC from the Ledra Palace Border Gate at 14:15.

It was decided to release Akan Kürşat, who was brought before the Nicosia (Greek) District Court today, by showing 10 thousand Euros in cash and 65 thousand Euros of bank guarantee from two separate Greek banks.

Akan Kürşat, who reportedly did not accept the 20 charges he was accused of, will be tried without arrest. His case will begin hearing on February 29 at 10:30. Kürşat will be held on the first and third Monday of every month between 18:00 – 21:00, starting from February 19th. Demet will go to the Greek Police Station and provide proof.

Kürşat was arrested in Italy on the grounds that he was involved in the buying and selling of ancient Greek goods in the Kyrenia region and was extradited to Southern Cyprus.
