Uzbekistan Secures Third Gold Medal in Boxing at 2024 Summer Olympics
The Uzbekistan delegation at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris has made its mark once again, securing its third gold medal in boxing. In the +92 kg weight category, Lazizbek Mullajonov faced off against Alfonso Dominguez from Azerbaijan, originally hailing from Cuba, in the final match. Mullajonov emerged victorious with a score of 5:0, claiming the gold medal for Uzbekistan.
This latest gold medal brings Uzbekistan’s total medal count at the Paris Olympics to eight, consisting of five gold medals and three bronze. As a result, the Uzbekistan delegation has climbed to 14th place in the overall team standings, showcasing their strength and skill in various competitions.
In addition to their success in boxing, Uzbekistan has also broken their previous record for the number of gold medals won at a single Olympic Games. With five golds achieved in Paris, they have exceeded their previous record of four gold medals attained in Rio 2016.
