The Technical Regulation Oversight Inspectorate in Uzbekistan has recently announced that discussions are underway regarding the restrictions placed on Leapmotor vehicles in the country. Experts from the Chinese company are expected to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to further address this issue.
According to a statement from the press service of the Technical Regulation Oversight Inspectorate, as reported by Kun.uz, the import restrictions on passenger cars under the Leapmotor brand are up for review. Negotiations are currently in progress, and specialists from the company are scheduled to arrive in Uzbekistan soon. New product tests will be carried out with their involvement.
Previously, the acceptance of certification applications for Leapmotor-branded passenger cars was suspended in Uzbekistan due to a defect found in the Leapmotor C16 model. The inspectorate revealed that the level of electromagnetic noise produced by this vehicle surpassed the allowable limit by 16 times.
Some individuals have viewed this decision as an effort to make room for local manufacturers in the market.
