On May 3rd, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union, alongside Arzu Aliyeva, head of the Baku Media Center, continued their journey through the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Joined by family members, they focused their second day on delving into the Ordubad district’s diverse heritage, celebrated for its ancient history, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes.

The day commenced at the Ashabi-Kahf shrine, a site esteemed for its significant spiritual and symbolic value in Nakhchivan. Leyla and Arzu explored the sacred areas of "Damjikhana," engaging with local pilgrims and capturing moments through photographs.

Their next stop was the city of Ordubad, where they visited several historical, religious, and cultural landmarks. The Juma Mosque, a quintessential emblem of Ordubad, was their first destination. Following this, they toured the "Geysariyya" History and Ethnography Museum, examining exhibits that vividly illustrated the region’s history, cultural traditions, and craftsmanship.

The tour also included a visit to Sersheher Street, notable for its historical monuments, including the Sersheher Mosque.

In Sersheher Square, the Aliyeva sisters were introduced to a variety of local products at the organic market. They sampled distinctive national sweets, jams, dried fruits, plant extracts, medicinal herbs, honey, and other bee products. The popular Ordubad scrambled eggs and the region’s famous lemons were among the highlights. The ancient plane tree in the square, a centuries-old landmark, served as a testament to the enduring bond between nature and history in Ordubad. During their stroll, they enjoyed interacting with and photographing local residents.

Concluding their visit, Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva met the Akbarov family in the village of Vanand, located in the Ordubad district. They toured the family’s lemon-growing farm, gaining insights into the cultivation of the celebrated Ordubad lemon, which is tended to with meticulous care.
