Libya’s Cultural Days Unfold in Ashgabat
Cultural Exchange: Days of Culture of Libya Celebrated in Ashgabat
From May 1 to 3, 2025, Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, is hosting the Days of Culture of the State of Libya. This vibrant event commenced with an opening ceremony at the Museum of Fine Arts, named after the esteemed leader, Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great. The exhibition showcased an array of exhibits, including exquisite examples of Arabic calligraphy, traditional Libyan costumes, significant literary works, and an assortment of national dishes.
The ceremony attracted a diverse audience, including representatives from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Culture, cultural figures, students and faculty from universities, and media personnel. Speeches during the event highlighted the significance of this cultural celebration in fostering peace, friendship, and mutual understanding between the Libyan and Turkmen peoples. Attendees expressed their gratitude to the leaders of both nations for facilitating this enriching encounter aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
The program featured performances by artists from Libya, who captivated the audience with folk music, classical tunes, and popular songs, complemented by vibrant dance performances. Dressed in traditional costumes, the artists received enthusiastic applause, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.
In addition to artistic performances, a conference was held on the theme: "The Role of Turkmen Scientists in Revealing the Cultural Development of Humanity and Enriching the Arabic Language and Islamic Education." This highlighted the contributions of Turkmen scholars to the broader cultural dialogue.
Guests were also treated to a cultural program, including tours of Ashgabat’s remarkable landmarks, such as the cultural and park complex “Magtymguly Pyragy” and the unique exhibits at the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan.
As the event reaches its conclusion, a joint concert featuring artists from both Turkmenistan and Libya is set to leave attendees with cherished memories of this significant cultural exchange, showcasing the rich heritage and artistic expressions of both nations.
