
Live Updates: Extraordinary CHP Convention

The 21st Extraordinary Congress of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) has officially commenced, with President Ozgur Ozel delivering the opening speech to kick off the event.
The congress began at 10:00 am at the Yenimahalle Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center, where delegates gathered for the important political event. Following a moment of silence and the national anthem, President Ozgur Ozel addressed the attendees to mark the beginning of the congress.
During his speech, President Ozel announced that the majority was in favor of proceeding with the congress, and nominated Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, the Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, for the position of President of the Congress. The proposal was accepted by the delegates, and Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu was officially named as the President of the 21st Extraordinary Congress of the CHP.
Numerous distinguished figures were in attendance at the congress, including former presidents Altan Öymen, Hikmet Çetin, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and former SHP President Murat Karayalçın, as well as various mayors, members of honor, and delegates.
Inside the congress hall, posters of prominent figures such as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Ozgur Ozel, and Ekrem İmamoğlu adorned the walls, with a vacant seat next to President Ozel symbolizing the recent removal of Ekrem İmamoğlu from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
