Local Drones Poised to Enhance Defense Forces’ Capabilities
Hungary’s Defense Forces recently hosted a professional event organized by the Defense Innovation Research Institute (VIKI) on July 1 and 2, where domestic companies showcased their drones, flying equipment, and integrable sensors to military experts.
The two-day event, held at the Hajmásker Training Base in western Hungary, aimed to facilitate dialogue and idea exchange between civilian partners and military leaders, as reported by Honvedelem.hu.
During his opening speech, László Deme, Deputy State Secretary for Force Development and Defense Innovation, emphasized the crucial role of drones in the 21st century. He highlighted that these autonomous devices can significantly increase operational efficiency for armed forces.
Nearly two dozen companies presented their equipment at the event, allowing soldiers to inquire about opportunities, discuss the progress of domestic companies, and explore potential collaborations for the development of the armed forces. The manufacturers also had the opportunity to network and deepen their cooperation.
According to the Hungarian Defense Forces’ portal, the country’s self-reliance in equipment development is critical for its resilience. As drones are expected to be extensively used in the future, the utilization of locally produced equipment could play a pivotal role. The portal notes that Hungarian knowledge and technology can ensure autonomy in this domain.
After the conclusion of the event, VIKI aims to continue joint work with practical discussions, where expectations can be translated into tasks for successful outcomes.
