Man Arrested for Growing Cannabis Plants at Home

A 53-year-old man in Margilan, Fergana region, was recently detained for storing a large amount of drugs in his apartment, as reported by the regional police department. The man, identified as A.K., was found to have 13 cannabis bushes growing at his home during a police operation on June 29.

In addition to the cannabis plants, A.K. was also found to be in possession of 12.537 kg of opium poppy, 2.570 kg of marijuana, 41 g of hashish, and 22.550 kg of poppy straw. Following the discovery, relevant documents were drawn up and an investigation is currently underway.

The operation was carried out with the participation of witnesses at A.K.’s private house in the city’s Tuyagum mahalla. Photos released by the Fergana regional DIA show the extent of the drugs found in the man’s possession.
