Earthquake Hits Alay District of Osh Region
Bishkek, 15:40, May 6, 2025 — A magnitude 4 earthquake was recorded in the Alay district of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh region, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The tremors were also felt in several nearby areas.
The Institute of Seismology reported that a more intense quake, measuring magnitude 5, occurred at the epicenter located in the Republic of Tajikistan earlier today at 2:08 p.m. This seismic activity prompted concerns across the region.
In Kyrgyzstan, the effects of the earthquake were most prominent in Bor-Debe village, where the tremors reached magnitude 4. Villages such as Kara-Kindik and Nura experienced slightly lesser effects, with tremors measuring up to magnitude 3.5.
Currently, efforts are underway to gather accurate information on any injuries or destruction caused by the earthquake.
