
Man Arrested for Spreading Extremist Content on Social Media in Batken

A citizen was recently detained in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan for distributing religious extremist materials through social media, according to a report from the Department of Internal Affairs of the region. The suspect was found to have been using audio materials belonging to an extremist and terrorist organization, which is banned in Kyrgyzstan, on a social media platform.
During a search of the suspect’s home, authorities seized four cell phones, 21 CDs, and 14 books. The resident, a 27-year-old individual, is now facing criminal charges under article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which relates to the production and distribution of extremist materials.
The confiscated religious extremist materials have been sent for examination, and the investigation into the case is ongoing. This incident serves as a reminder of the government’s efforts to combat the spread of extremist ideologies in the country.
