Man Caught Embezzling Over Half a Million with Fake Diploma

ALLEGED EMBODIMENT OF MONEY: MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE ACCUSED OF EMBEZZLEMENT AND FAKE DIPLOMA
A municipal employee in Antalya’s Konyaaltı Municipality is facing serious allegations of embezzlement and fraud. Çiğdem B., who has been working in a company affiliated with the municipality since 2019, is accused of earning a double salary, embezzling half a million lira, and using a fake diploma.
It was revealed that Çiğdem B. was responsible for the salary payment transactions of the employees and allegedly transferred more than one salary payment to her own account every month. Furthermore, an investigation found that her university diploma was fake.
The expert report included in the investigation revealed that Çiğdem B. had misappropriated a total of 567 thousand TL through various schemes. The indictment prepared by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office also highlighted discrepancies in the suspect’s job application documents, with no record of a graduate named Çiğdem B. at the university she claimed to have attended.
As a result, a lawsuit has been filed against Çiğdem B., requesting up to 17 years of imprisonment for charges including fraud, abuse of trust, and using public institutions for personal gain.
In her defense, Çiğdem B. claimed that she had been instructed by higher-ranking officials to carry out the fraudulent activities. The case is ongoing, and the truth behind these allegations will soon be revealed.
