Kyrgyzstani Caught Trying to Smuggle 99,700 Swiss Francs Out of Country
In a recent incident at the Osh airport in Kyrgyzstan, a 25-year-old individual attempted to take 99,700 Swiss francs to Russia without declaring the funds. The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported on the case, highlighting the violation of customs regulations.
The National Bank revealed that the exchange rate of the Swiss franc to Kyrgyz som is 98.65. As a result, the total amount the individual tried to smuggle out of the country amounted to 9,835,405 soms. This significant sum was detected by authorities, preventing the illegal transfer of funds.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of abiding by customs regulations and declaring any significant amounts of currency before crossing borders. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case to determine the motive behind the attempted smuggling of funds.
