Man loses ability to speak native language after surgery in Turkey

A Man in Türkiye Forgets Native Language and Speaks Only Danish After Surgery
A strange and rare case has been reported in the city of Konya, Türkiye, where a 67-year-old man forgot his native language and began speaking exclusively in Danish after undergoing knee surgery and experiencing arterial blockage.
According to Anadolu, the man experienced weakness in his right arm and leg following the surgery. Doctors performed emergency angiography and removed a blood clot, but to everyone’s surprise, the patient started speaking only Danish afterwards.
It was revealed that the man had lived in Denmark for 20 years before returning to Türkiye, where he settled in Konya about a decade ago. This explains his ability to speak Danish fluently, but the sudden loss of his native language is a rare and unusual phenomenon.
“I can’t say anything in Turkish, my head is full of Danish,” the man explained to the agency through a translator.
This case has caused intrigue and confusion among medical professionals, as the sudden onset of speaking a foreign language exclusively after surgery is not something commonly seen. Further investigation and monitoring of the man’s condition will be necessary to fully understand and address this unique situation.
