A Deadly Argument: Cousins Fight Over Debt Turns Fatal
A tragic incident unfolded yesterday morning on Çankırı Street in Altındağ district when an argument between two cousins escalated into violence. The cousins, who were also business partners in an entertainment center, got into a heated dispute over a debt issue that ended in a fatal shooting.
Burhan D. reportedly shot his cousin and partner, Coşkun D., during the altercation using his licensed gun. Despite being rushed to the hospital for treatment, Coşkun D. succumbed to his injuries.
Following the shooting, Burhan D. was taken into custody as part of an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. During his statement to the police, Burhan D. revealed that he had only been in Ankara for 3.5 months and had entered into a business partnership with his cousin, Coşkun D. However, their relationship soured due to disagreements over the business’s financial losses.
According to Burhan D., the motive behind the deadly fight was rooted in the unresolved debt issue between the cousins. He maintained that there was no intention to kill his cousin and partner.
After undergoing a health check, the suspect was brought before the Ankara Courthouse where he was subsequently arrested by the criminal court of peace on duty for “intentional murder”. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise from unresolved disputes, highlighting the importance of peaceful conflict resolution.
