Man Murders Wife with Iron in Shocking Crime
A tragic incident occurred on the night of August 23, 2024, in the Suleymanpasa Cinarli neighborhood of Tekirdag. Hasan Dim, a raw meatball shop owner, and his wife Elif Dim, a factory worker and mother of two children, got into a heated argument which resulted in Hasan Dim killing his wife. After the crime, Hasan Dim went to a nearby coffeehouse and casually told an employee that he had killed his wife, instructing him to go home and see for himself.
The son of the couple, upon finding his mother dead, promptly reported the incident to the police. Forensic investigations later confirmed the death of Elif Dim. Hasan Dim managed to evade capture for three days following the murder but was eventually apprehended by the Gendarmerie Crime Research Team in the neighborhood of Karacakılavuz.
During the trial at the Tekirdag 4th High Criminal Court, Hasan Dim expressed remorse for his actions and denied intentionally killing his wife. He claimed that the incident was a result of a heated argument that escalated, stating that he never intended for things to end the way they did. Elif Dim’s parents, who attended the hearing, demanded justice for their daughter and urged for the harshest punishment for the defendant.
The court decided to continue holding Hasan Dim in custody and postponed the hearing. The couple’s children were placed under the care of a pedagogue for the duration of the trial. The Tekirdag Bar Association, as well as women’s rights advocates, emphasized the need for stricter measures to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
The case has sparked outrage and renewed calls for ending domestic violence and protecting vulnerable individuals in society. The trial continues as the community seeks justice for Elif Dim and other victims of gender-based violence.
