A Man Arrested for Alleged Murder After Stabbing Incident in Istanbul
A leisurely evening with friends took a deadly turn for Engin Yalçın (43) in Istanbul Beyoğlu Tarlabaşı Boulevard. What started as an evening of drinking with friends ended in tragedy when a pastry shop employee, Derviş K. (21), allegedly stabbed Yalçın in the forehead with a pen.
The incident reportedly began when Yalçın threw an empty bottle into a parked vehicle of the pastry shop, catching the attention of Derviş K. who confronted the group. When Yalçın was pointed out as the culprit, Derviş K. allegedly responded by stabbing him with a pen.
Yalçın was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, while Derviş K. was detained by the Beyoğlu Public Order Bureau teams and later released pending trial by the court. However, the situation escalated when Yalçın tragically passed away a week later, prompting the police to arrest Derviş K. again upon the prosecutor’s instructions.
Derviş K. was charged with deliberate murder and was later arrested by the court. Security camera footage reportedly captured the chilling moment when the stabbing took place.
