Bishkek’s Manas International Airport Renamed to “Airports of Kyrgyzstan”
In a recent announcement by the Manas International Airport OJSC, it has been reported that the airport will undergo a name change. The company’s press service revealed that the OJSC will now be known as “Airports of Kyrgyzstan.” This decision was made on December 19th.
Despite the name change for the overall organization, the International Airport Manas will retain its current name. However, it will now operate as the Bishkek branch of the newly renamed entity.
In addition to the name change, there may also be a shift in the airport’s designated code. The current code, FRU, could be replaced with a new code pending approval from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). All airlines currently operating flights to Kyrgyzstan have reportedly given their approval for the change.
This move signifies a rebranding and restructuring of the airport operations within Kyrgyzstan. Stay tuned for further updates as the transition progresses.
