Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş Addresses Presidential Candidacy Questions
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has made it clear that if his party nominates him, he will be a candidate for the presidency. Speaking to the press after inaugurating the 100th Year Youth Library in Çankaya, Yavaş responded to questions about his potential candidacy.
Regarding the discussions surrounding the CHP’s presidential candidate, Yavaş expressed his disappointment, stating, “Our esteemed Chairman has stated that the party will decide on the candidate when the time comes. Therefore, until such discussions are officially on the agenda, we find them unnecessary and saddening.” Yavaş emphasized the importance of focusing on the country’s current issues such as the well-being of retirees, access to food, and support for low-income individuals.
Yavaş also addressed rumors of his resignation from the party, calling them baseless and ridiculous. He emphasized his commitment to the party and its values. Additionally, he criticized the insult case against Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stating that it is a political maneuver and expressing confidence in the legal system to rule in favor of İmamoğlu.
As a lawyer, Yavaş highlighted the importance of respecting legal processes and reaffirmed his support for İmamoğlu and all CHP mayors. He reassured the public that they will respond appropriately if necessary, but expressed belief in a fair and just outcome in the legal proceedings.
In conclusion, Mansur Yavaş emphasized the importance of staying focused on the real issues affecting the country and urged for a return to the national agenda. He firmly stated that his candidacy for the presidency will only be considered if nominated by his party, leaving no room for ambiguity or unnecessary distractions from important matters.
