Marmara Sea hit by 3.0 magnitude earthquake

The Kandilli Observatory has reported that a 3.0 magnitude earthquake has occurred in the Gemlik Gulf of the Marmara Sea. The quake was measured to have a depth of 9.7 km.

This event has raised concerns over the possibility of a larger earthquake hitting Istanbul in the near future. Just three days ago, Japanese earthquake expert Moriwaki Yoshinori had brought attention to the region, and today he has made new statements regarding the potential for a major earthquake in Istanbul.

The occurrence of two earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.1 and 4.5 in such close proximity to one another has sparked fears that these recent tremors could be precursors to a much larger seismic event in the area.

Residents and officials have been advised to remain vigilant and prepared in the event of a potentially larger earthquake, and to take necessary precautions to ensure safety in the future.
