The city of Bishkek has successfully completed the cleaning of the Alamedin River, as reported by the City Hall’s press service. Over the course of cleaning 11 kilometers of the river, municipal employees removed a total of 46,822 tons of garbage.

Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev stated, “The work will not stop there. Today, in addition to the main work, we will launch small excavators for cosmetic work to make the river look more aesthetically pleasing.” In order to strengthen the river banks, 4,287 tons of crushed stone were brought in and 16 unauthorized structures along the river were demolished.

Bishkekzelenstroi municipal enterprise has been tasked with improving the adjacent territory, organizing a walking area, creating conditions for citizens’ leisure, and strengthening the river banks. Bishkekasfaltservice will be responsible for carrying out pothole repairs in certain areas along the walking area.

The cleaning of the Ala-Archa River is planned to be completed by March 20. Mechanical cleaning is an important step to prevent floods, improve water quality, and create a comfortable urban environment.
