Twenty tons of gasoline spilled into Kara-Balta river due to a traffic accident involving a fuel tanker, according to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The incident occurred after the fuel tanker crashed into a concrete parapet and overturned on November 21 on the 113th kilometer of Bishkek — Osh road. The driver, a 28-year-old, was injured and hospitalized as a result of the accident.
The massive spill has led to the disruption of the supply of drinking water to Taldy-Bulak and Sosnovka villages. The authorities are working to address the situation and the water is currently being tested.
