Mayor of Isparta’s Tragic Day – Late Breaking News from Turkey
A funeral ceremony was held at the Mufti Mosque for Mürüvvet Başdeğirmen, the daughter of Isparta Mayor Şükrü Başdeğirmen, who tragically passed away after a horse riding accident. The ceremony took place after the noon prayer and was attended by many mourners.
Mürüvvet Başdeğirmen had been seriously injured when she fell off her horse during a ride on May 13, 2023. Despite being treated at the intensive care unit of Süleyman Demirel University Application and Research Hospital for about 1.5 years, she sadly succumbed to her injuries yesterday.
During the funeral ceremony, Şükrü Başdeğirmen and his wife Şadiye Başdeğirmen were visibly emotional, struggling to stand as they bid farewell to their beloved daughter.
The ceremony was attended by Isparta Governor Abdullah Erin, AK Party Isparta Deputy Osman Zabun, MHP Isparta Deputy Hasan Basri Sönmez, CHP Isparta Deputy Hikmet Yalım Halıcı, and AK Party Supreme Election Board Representative Recep Özel, among others. Representatives of community organizations and numerous citizens also joined in paying their respects.
Following the ceremony, Mürüvvet Başdeğirmen was laid to rest in Asri Cemetery, where she will be remembered and honored by all who knew her.
