
Medvedev Advances to Quarter-Finals at Australian Open

Russian tennis player Medvedev emerged victorious, defeating world number 69 Nuno Borges with sets of 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, and 6-1. This win propelled Medvedev into the quarter-finals, where he will face off against Polish player Hubert Hurkacz, the number 9 seed in men’s singles. Hurkacz secured his spot in the quarter-finals by defeating French player Arthur Cazaux in a 3-0 win (7-6, 7-6, 6-4).
In the women’s singles, Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, ranked 93rd in the world, pulled off a stunning victory against two-time Australian Open champion Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, who is seeded number 18. Yastremska won the match 2-0 with sets of 7-6 and 6-4, earning herself a spot in the quarter-finals. Czech player Linda Noskova, ranked 50th, was also set to advance after Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (19) withdrew from their match, setting up a quarter-final matchup between Noskova and Yastremska.
