Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu: The Journey of a Devoted Mufti
Çatalca Mufti Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu has led a life dedicated to education and religious service. Born in 1964 in Akyazı district of Sakarya, Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu’s journey began at a young age when his family moved to Istanbul due to his father’s role as a preacher. Following a family tradition, he began memorizing the Quran at the age of seven and completed it by the age of nine.
His passion for learning and teaching continued as he studied Arabic for 10 years under his father’s guidance. Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu pursued formal education, completing his first, middle, and Imam Hatip High School studies externally. He then went on to provide Arabic and religious science education at a Quran course for five years before enrolling in Erzurum Atatürk University Faculty of Theology and later transferring to Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Theology in 1995.
Throughout his career, Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu has held various positions, including Qur’an Course Teaching in İnegöl, preaching in Çerkezköy, and serving as a mufti in districts such as Mazgirt, Yağlıdere, and Şirvan. He has also served as a religious official in Munich, Germany, as part of an overseas mission.
His dedication and commitment to his duties have been recognized as he successfully fulfilled roles as the Antalya Provincial Preacher, Ardahan Provincial Assistant Mufti, Tekirdağ Provincial Assistant Mufti, and Kocaeli Provincial Assistant Mufti. On 26.07.2023, he was appointed as the mufti of Çatalca district in Istanbul, where he continues to serve the community with passion and devotion.
