Merthan Açık: The Journey of a Football Player
Merthan Açık, born on February 15, 1982, has had a remarkable career in professional football. Starting in the Bakırköyspor infrastructure, Açık quickly rose to the professional team where he showcased his talent for two years. He was then transferred to Çaykur Rizespor, where he spent four successful years before being rented to Istanbul Metropolitan Belediyespor and Giresunspor for the 2005-06 season.
In 2006-07, Açık made a move to Kasımpaşa where he continued to impress with his skills on the field. He later signed a contract with Adanaspor, marking a new chapter in his career. Açık’s time with Adanaspor saw him achieve the 1st League Championship in the 2015-16 season before being transferred to Ümraniyespor at the start of the 2016-17 season.
During his time with Ümraniyespor, Açık continued to excel before ultimately finding success in the Super League with Erzurumspor. It was here that Açık decided to end his active football career on a high note.
Even after retiring from professional football, Açık remained involved in the sports world. He had a stint with the UK Championship team, Hull City, where he continued to share his passion and knowledge of the game.
