Meeting Between Mirziyoyev and South Korean President in Exclusive Format
A meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea was held at the Kuksaroy residence in a narrow format, as reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
The discussion began with Mirziyoyev warmly congratulating the guest on the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations and the fifth anniversary of the Uzbek-Korean special strategic partnership.
Various issues concerning the expansion of practical cooperation in political, trade-economic, technological, and other priority areas were addressed during the meeting.
The Republic of Korea was recognized as one of Uzbekistan’s top trade and investment partners, with a trade turnover of $2.5 billion last year and Korean investments exceeding $7.5 billion.
Both leaders agreed on establishing a new partnership model to maximize potential utilization, identify and promote major high-tech cooperation projects effectively.
The development of cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries was also commended.
Discussions on regional cooperation, particularly in the “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” framework, took place, emphasizing the importance of establishing strong ties in the realms of security and defense, specifically in combating cybercrime, terrorism, and extremism.
