About the Meeting Between Turkmenistan’s National Leader and Chairman of World Ethnosport Confederation
On September 26, 2024, an important meeting took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Chairman of the World Ethnosport Confederation, Bilal Erdogan, son of the President of Turkey. The meeting occurred during the celebrations marking the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warmly welcomed Bilal Erdogan, expressing his delight in hosting him on Turkmen soil and thanking him for sharing in the joy of the Turkmen people during this special occasion. In return, Bilal Erdogan conveyed warm greetings and well wishes from his father, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the Turkmen people.
Both leaders expressed their appreciation for the strong bilateral ties between Turkmenistan and Turkey in various areas including politics, diplomacy, trade, economy, culture, and sports. Chairman Berdimuhamedov highlighted Turkmenistan’s achievements in hosting international sports competitions and the success of Turkmen athletes on the global stage.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged wishes for continued health, success, and prosperity for their respective nations. Chairman Berdimuhamedov also presented Bilal Erdogan with a gift symbolizing the national pride of Turkmenistan – the Alabays.
Following the meeting, Bilal Erdogan visited the city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan, a “smart city” project initiated by Chairman Berdimuhamedov. Impressed by the innovative and environmentally friendly solutions in the city, Bilal Erdogan gained insight into Turkmenistan’s commitment to sustainability and modern development.
