Melis Turgunbaev Approved as National Bank Head by Budget Committee

The Committee of the Parliament on Budget, Economic, and Fiscal Policy has approved the candidacy of Melis Turgunbaev for the position of Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan. This decision will now be considered at a plenary session of Parliament.

President Sadyr Japarov has relieved Melis Turgunbaev of his position as Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, which he has held since March 2023.

He graduated from the American University of Central Asia, holds a Doctor of Economic Sciences degree, and is an Associate Professor. – 2002-2006: Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, leading specialist
– 2006-2015: Gazprom Neft Asia, head of the Market Analysis and Pricing Department
– 2015-2020: Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, branch director
– 2013-2021: Kyrgyzneftegaz, member and Chairman of the Board of Directors
– 2021-2023: Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank, member of the Board of Directors

Since March 15, 2023, Turgunbaev has been serving as Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision. He was born in Kyzyl-Suu village, Kara-Suu district, Osh region, and is married with four children.
