Melis Turgunbaev Named Chairman of National Bank of Kyrgyzstan

In a unanimous decision, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has elected Melis Turgunbaev as the new Chairman of the National Bank. All 75 deputies present at the meeting voted in favor of his candidacy.
This morning, President Sadyr Japarov announced the appointment and relieved Melis Turgunbaev of his previous post as Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, a position he had held since March 2023.
Melis Turgunbaev’s appointment as Chairman of the National Bank marks a significant milestone in Kyrgyzstan’s financial sector. His leadership and expertise are expected to bring positive changes and stability to the country’s banking system.
As the new head of the National Bank, Melis Turgunbaev will play a crucial role in shaping monetary policy, ensuring the stability of the national currency, and promoting economic growth in Kyrgyzstan.
