A Memorial Event Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War Held in Belarus

A memorial event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and to the Kyrgyz soldiers who participated in the liberation of Belarus was recently held in the Beshenkovichi district of Vitebsk Oblast. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on this solemn occasion.

The ceremony took place at the memorial complex at the site of the mass grave of Hero of the Soviet Union Zhumash Asanaliev. The requiem meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Belarus Erbol Sultanbaev, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of Belarus Alexander Dragun, deputies of the National Assembly, representatives of the EAEU Court, as well as local activists and residents of the district.

During his speech, Ambassador Erbol Sultanbaev highlighted the sacrifices made by around 30,000 Kyrgyz soldiers who gave their lives in the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. He expressed his gratitude to the Belarusian people for honoring the memory of the Kyrgyz soldiers.

To conclude the ceremony, participants laid flowers at the mass grave, and a park was planted next to the memorial. Additionally, a memorial plaque was installed to commemorate the anniversary of Victory and to honor the memory of the war participants.

This event served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers from Kyrgyzstan and Belarus in the fight against fascism during World War II. It also underscored the importance of preserving the memory of these courageous individuals for future generations.
