Ferencváros Water Polo Team Wins European Aquatics Super Cup
Ferencváros (FTC), the winners of the LEN Champions League (Ligue Européenne de Natation), secured a victory in the European Aquatics Water Polo Super Cup Men 2024 by defeating the defending LEN Euro Cup champions VK Jug Dubrovnik 13-9 in Budapest on Saturday night.
The match, held at the Császár-Komjádi Béla Sport Swimming Pool in Budapest, saw Ferencváros trailing 5-4 at halftime. However, they mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half, led by Márton Vámos, to outscore their opponents and clinch the title convincingly.
This victory marks the 21st time since 2002 that the current Champions League winner has also won the Super Cup. Ferencváros, who emerged as the champions in 2018 by defeating Olympiacos CFP, continued their success by adding another Super Cup title to their collection.
Balázs Nyéki’s team displayed an excellent performance throughout the match, initially taking a 2-0 lead before facing a resilient Jug Dubrovnik side. However, Ferencváros managed to maintain their lead and secure a historic fifth Super Cup victory in their history.
