MHP Fires Back at CHP Over Constitution Dispute – Breaking News
MHP Responds to CHP’s Criticisms on Constitution
In the midst of constitutional debates, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has responded strongly to the criticisms made by the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel. The reaction came in the form of a statement made by Büyükataman on social media, defending MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli’s stance on the first four articles of the constitution.
Büyükataman emphasized that the MHP’s position on the first four articles, which are considered crucial for the nation’s existence, has remained unwavering since the beginning. He pointed out that Bahçeli had clearly stated that these articles are non-negotiable, despite Özel’s alleged inability to comprehend this stance.
Furthermore, Büyükataman questioned Özel’s partnership with the Democratic Regions Party (DEM), known for its criticisms against Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Republic, and the constitutional order. He called out Özel for not denouncing the attacks on the Republic by political extensions of the PKK terrorist organization, accusing him of trying to whitewash their actions.
Büyükataman declared that Özel has no authority to question the MHP on its stance regarding the constitution, as long as he fails to address his connections to groups hostile to the Republic. He reiterated Bahçeli’s statement that those who oppose the first four articles of the constitution are irrelevant to the MHP.
The MHP’s firm response indicates a clear divide between the two parties on constitutional matters, highlighting the importance of national unity and integrity in Turkish politics.
