MHP wins parliamentary seats in 13 provinces for the first time
MHP Increases Number of Seats in Parliament Despite Decrease in Vote Percentage
Despite a decrease in vote percentage compared to the 2018 elections, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has increased its number of seats in parliament. The MHP managed to surpass the vote rate shown in the polls and received 10.79% of the votes, winning 52 seats in the parliament.
In the 2018 elections, the MHP won 49 deputies with 11.1% of the votes. However, yesterday, the party succeeded in winning 52 deputies with a percentage of 10.79 votes, even though they received 942 thousand votes less than in the previous elections.
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahceli won his seat in parliament from Osmaniye with a vote rate of 29.06%, while Bahadır Bumin Özarslan, the Deputy Secretary General, who was nominated only from the Izmir first region, could not be elected.
The MHP managed to send candidates to the Assembly from Balıkesir, Bolu, Çankırı, Çorum, Elazığ, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Isparta, Nevşehir, Niğde, and Kilis, where they did not have a deputy previously. However, the number of deputies from Istanbul decreased from 8 to 5 and from Ankara from 5 to 3.
It was also surprising that the MHP increased their number of deputies despite survey companies predicting that they would fall below the threshold. Additionally, the Re-Welfare Party managed to win seats in parliament even though they did not appear in any polls.
The MHP has dismissed 15 members of its Presidency Council, including Bahadır Bumin Özarslan. Despite this, the party has managed to increase its number of seats in parliament through the recent elections.
