Mikhail Mishustin pledges affordable, high-speed Internet across the EAEU

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has announced plans to provide cheap, fast Internet throughout the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This announcement was made during the plenary session of the Digital Almaty Forum in Almaty.

Mishustin stated that the government is planning to launch four communications spacecraft into a high elliptical orbit next year. These spacecraft will provide broadband access to fast Internet not only throughout the Russian Federation but also in the Arctic zone.

Furthermore, there are plans to create a low-orbit grouping with about three hundred devices in the future. This grouping will be able to meet the needs for cheap and fast Internet not only in Russia but also in all countries of the EAEU. Mishustin emphasized the importance of developing these technologies based on their own element base.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the development of promising space groups and systems to provide new-level services as one of the key areas of focus in this initiative. This move towards improving internet access and connectivity within the EAEU showcases Russia’s commitment to technological advancement and innovation in the region.
