Million-Dollar Land Plot Voluntarily Returned to Bishkek

A land plot worth over 1 billion soms has been returned to the state in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).

It was revealed that a municipal land plot in Bishkek, originally intended for a school, was unlawfully transferred to private ownership at a reduced price through collusion with City Hall officials. The 2.5-hectare plot on Tynaliev Street was auctioned off in 2011 for $340,000, significantly below its actual market value of around $2 million at the time.

Instead of a school, a multi-storey residential complex with a shopping center was constructed on the land, prompting an investigation. The owner of the plot voluntarily returned it to the state during the inquiry.

Authorities are now conducting further investigative measures to uncover similar instances of abuse and identify officials implicated in such fraudulent schemes.
