Millions Confiscated in Customs Violation Case at Tashkent Border

Authorities in the Tashkent region have foiled an attempt to illegally export more than 2 million Russian rubles (approximately $21.9 thousand) at the “Farhod” customs post. The regional Customs Department reported that two individuals were detained during a routine customs check while attempting to cross into a neighboring country.
The suspicious behavior of the passengers raised red flags, leading to a thorough personal search. During the search, it was discovered that one of the passengers was carrying 1.4 million Russian rubles (approximately $14.4 thousand) in a bag, which had not been declared to customs. The second passenger was found in possession of 730 thousand Russian rubles (approximately $7.5 thousand).
The individuals in question now face legal consequences as an investigation into the attempted illegal export is currently ongoing. The Tashkent Regional Customs Department is working diligently to prevent unlawful activities at the border and uphold the law.
