Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan Attends Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization Meeting in Norway
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan recently traveled to Norway to participate in talks and attended the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) Foreign Ministers Council Meeting, which was held online in the capital city of Oslo. During the meeting, Turkey’s term presidency was transferred to Albania, marking an important transition within the organization.
Minister Fidan’s presence at the meeting underscores Turkey’s commitment to international cooperation and diplomacy. He actively engaged with his counterparts from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League (AL) Contact Group to discuss efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza. Alongside the ministers from the Contact Group, Minister Fidan met with the foreign ministers of Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Iceland, Luxembourg, and Finland.
During the discussions, the participating representatives reiterated the urgent need for a full ceasefire in Gaza and emphasized the importance of taking decisive action toward achieving a two-state solution in the region. The meeting also saw the participation of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, highlighting the high level of engagement and commitment to addressing pressing international issues.
Minister Fidan’s presence and active participation in the BSEC meeting and subsequent discussions with the OIC and AL Contact Group reaffirm Turkey’s dedication to engaging with the international community to seek peaceful resolutions to complex geopolitical challenges. As the handover of the BSEC term presidency to Albania signals a new chapter for the organization, Turkey remains committed to playing a constructive role in advancing regional cooperation and stability.
