Minister of Health Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of Baby Murderer Gang Detection

Minister of Health Memişoğlu explains detailed process of detecting ‘Neonborn’ gang
Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, shared a comprehensive explanation of the process followed in detecting the notorious ‘Neonborn’ gang responsible for heinous acts against newborn babies. The chronology of events gives insight into the intensive investigation carried out by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with law enforcement authorities.
The process began on March 27, 2023, with a complaint submitted to CİMER, leading to subsequent actions taken by Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, the Inspection Board, and the Police Department. The investigation involved routine inspections, requests for assistance from various branches of law enforcement, and the formation of specialized inspection committees to evaluate hospital files.
The meticulous approach taken by the Ministry’s inspectors and law enforcement officials eventually led to concrete evidence against the suspects involved in the criminal activities. The efforts culminated in a series of arrests on April 26, 2024, based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
Despite the challenges faced during the investigation, including suspicions of moles within the commission and confidentiality orders from the Prosecutor’s Office, the collaborative efforts of all parties involved ultimately uncovered the criminal activities of the ‘Neonborn’ gang.
In light of this case, Minister Memişoğlu emphasized the need for enhanced control mechanisms in private hospitals to prevent such incidents in the future. The Ministry plans to revise its inspection procedures and implement more stringent measures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients in healthcare facilities.
The successful outcome of this investigation serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Ministry’s inspectors and law enforcement officials. Minister Memişoğlu expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of healthcare and patient protection.
As the ‘Neonborn’ gang case comes to a close with the cancellation of hospital licenses on October 18, 2024, the Ministry of Health remains vigilant in its efforts to prevent similar incidents and maintain the integrity of the healthcare system.
The detailed explanation provided by Minister Memişoğlu sheds light on the intricate process of detecting and prosecuting criminal activities in the healthcare sector, underscoring the importance of thorough investigations and collaborative efforts in safeguarding public health and safety.
