Minister Bolat to Attend G7 Trade Ministers Meeting in Italy

Minister Bolat is set to travel to Italy on July 16 to participate in the ‘G7 Countries Trade Ministers Meeting’ at Villa San Giovanni. The meeting aims to address the increasing challenges faced in global supply chains, supply shortages, and the impact of inflationary pressures in recent years.

The theme of the meeting, ‘Resilience of Global Supply Chains,’ will focus on finding solutions to the main problems in world trade, promoting cooperation for the diversification of supply chains, reforming the multilateral trading system, combating unfair competition practices, and mitigating risks in global trade.

The meeting will gather trade ministers, senior government officials, directors general of the World Trade Organization and OECD, as well as representatives of the B7 umbrella organization of the G7 countries – including the United States, Germany, England, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the European Union, and other countries like Turkey, India, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Minister Bolat is expected to engage in discussions with counterparts from participating countries, particularly Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Canada. The discussions will focus on bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as issues related to the multilateral trade system.

With the G7 economies representing about 50 percent of the global economy, these countries are crucial trading partners for Turkey. Earlier this year, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also attended the G7 Leaders Summit in June upon Italy’s invitation. The G7 forum has been a key international platform for discussions on global economic issues since its founding in 1973.

This meeting is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of global trade and economic relations, as well as fostering cooperation among the world’s largest economies. Minister Bolat’s participation underscores Turkey’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing international trade and promoting economic resilience.
