Minister Özhaseki Visits Earthquake Victims in Kahramanmaraş During Eid al-Adha

Minister Mehmet Özhaseki traveled to Kahramanmaraş, the city that was at the center of the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, on the first day of the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Starting the day by performing the holiday prayer at the Meydan Tent Mosque in the Göksun district, Minister Özhaseki personally celebrated with the citizens after the prayer. He also made sure to bring joy to the children by giving them holiday gifts. Minister Özhaseki then visited the container city and conducted investigations.

During his visit, Minister Özhaseki met with Emine Öcal, an 81-year-old earthquake victim who lost one of her legs in an accident. Expressing her desire to return home, Emine Öcal asked for Minister Özhaseki’s assistance in building her house. The Minister assured her that houses are being built and when they are completed, he and his team will personally pick her up and take her to her new home.

The Minister emphasized that the pain experienced by earthquake victims is shared by the whole nation of 85 million people. He expressed his commitment to healing the wounds together and prayed that such disasters would not happen again in the country.

Furthermore, Minister Özhaseki announced that he will be visiting other provinces affected by the earthquakes and emphasized the importance of adhering to stricter building regulations. He stated that buildings with more than 5 floors will not be allowed and emphasized the need for horizontal architecture without any compromises.

The Minister’s visit during the Eid al-Adha holiday not only showcased the government’s commitment to supporting and assisting earthquake victims, but also demonstrated the solidarity of the nation in times of crisis.
