Minister of Agriculture Discusses Collaboration with Turkish Seed Producers
Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş recently met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Seed Producers Sub-Union, Hacı Ömer Güler, and his delegation to discuss the latest developments in the seed industry in Turkey. The meeting also explored potential collaborations and training opportunities for Turkish Cypriot farmers.
During the meeting, Güler highlighted the rapid development of the seed industry in Turkey and expressed their willingness to provide free training sessions for Turkish Cypriot farmers. They aim to share their knowledge and experience in the sector with farmers in Cyprus.
Minister Çavuş welcomed the visit and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries in all fields. He pledged the ministry’s full support for collaboration with farmers, particularly in seed cultivation. The Minister highlighted the progress made in seed production and support over the past four years, including conducting tests with seeds imported from Turkey to determine suitable varieties for Cypriot conditions. These tests are crucial for enhancing farmers’ productivity and sustainability.
The Minister stressed the significance of conscious production and noted the advancements in seed diversity and breeding. Training sessions like these will enable farmers to implement more efficient and sustainable practices in their production processes.
