Minister Tunç: Resolutions Reached in 10,046 Rental Dispute Cases
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç attended the opening ceremony of the Palace of Justice in Konya’s Cihanbeyli district today. Speaking at the event, Minister Tunç highlighted the ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorism. He stated, “We are determined to continue our fight against terrorism. Under the leadership of our President, we are doing our best to ensure a peaceful future for Turkey, where our children and youth can live in a stronger and more peaceful environment.”
Addressing the issue of Israel’s attacks on Palestine, Minister Tunç expressed dismay at the lack of response from world leaders and international organizations. He criticized their silence and ineffectiveness in the face of Israel’s brutal actions. Minister Tunç emphasized the importance of holding those responsible for the attacks accountable and called for action from the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Minister Tunç also highlighted the reliable justice system in Turkey and addressed critics who are disturbed by the fact that the judiciary is no longer under their control. He emphasized that the judiciary serves the judgment of the nation and has played a crucial role in holding coup plotters accountable. Minister Tunç highlighted the progress made in establishing a reliable justice system over the past 21 years.
In addition, Minister Tunç mentioned the mediation institution and alternative dispute resolution methods in tenant-landlord disputes. He shared that since 2013, 4 million 488 thousand disputes have been brought before mediators, with 70 percent of them resulting in an agreement. He highlighted the success of optional mediation and the importance of resolving disputes without the involvement of the judiciary.
Minister Tunç also mentioned the ongoing judicial reform efforts and the preparation of a judicial reform strategy document and a Human Rights Action Plan document. These documents aim to further strengthen the justice system in Turkey and promote human rights. Minister Tunç pledged to present these preparations to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the beginning of 2024.
After the opening ceremony, Minister Tunç inspected the courthouse, showcasing the commitment of the Ministry of Justice to provide access to justice for all citizens.
